Derivatives trading platform

ASX will make available the Production Candidate Release (Release 9) for NTP Derivatives on 1 August. This is an important milestone and marks the beginning of the implementation of the new platform. The 12-week Customer Preparation Period will commence from this date.

In order to give customers and partners additional time to prepare for and manage the transition, ASX is changing the go-live window for NTP Derivatives to February 2017. This replaces the previously published date of November 2016.

Moving the go-live window to February 2017 helps de-risk final implementation activities and avoids the technology change restriction period of December-January.

The current futures platform, ASX Trade24, is operating effectively and will continue to be supported by ASX through this period.

After the go-live of the new derivatives platform, ASX will commence work on a service release. Details of this release will be provided prior to the derivatives go-live.

Equities trading platform

ASX is deferring the development of a new equities trading platform for a minimum of three years.  This will enable ASX and customers to focus on the implementation of NTP Derivatives and post-trade initiatives including risk management, derivatives clearing, and equities clearing and settlement. These initiatives are progressing in accordance with previously advised timeframes.

ASX also recognises the impact of the overall technology strategy on customers and is seeking to reduce the amount of major platform renewal being undertaken concurrently.  Deferring the equities trading phase early ensures customers do not commence any development to the new platform.

The current equities trading platform, ASX Trade, operates effectively and efficiently.  ASX will continue to support and invest in this platform.

What do I need to do by when?

There is no further action required by ASX customers. The trading platform customer readiness team will contact customers over the coming week to discuss these changes in more detail.
