This is an update on Market Notice 1172.15.10 dated 9 October 2015 which warned participants about cases of alleged identity fraud and urged participants to be vigilant when opening accounts particularly where they are domiciled offshore and/or one-off sales for Issuer Sponsored Holdings.

ASX has recently become aware of further cases where alleged fraudsters appear to have opened one-off accounts in the registration name of the Issuer Sponsored Holders whose details they have intercepted for the express purpose of selling those holdings.

What do I need to do by when?

We encourage participants to review their arrangements (including any arrangements outsourced to intermediaries) relating to one-off sales and the limits imposed on the size of transactions through this process, client and payment verification processes, off-market transfers and, if supported, third party payments processes, to ensure the arrangements are appropriately designed and implemented to mitigate risk of unauthorised transfers and other nefarious activity.
