ASX will deploy the new automated Order and Trade Download Service in the Customer Development Environment (CDE+) on the evening of Monday 30th of October 2023 (effective Tuesday 31st October). The Order and Trade Download service is a new SFTP facility where Market Participants can access and download their respective private order (ODS) and trade (TDS) files in the event of a major ASX Trade market incident. The deployment to the CDE+ environment is to enable Participants to connect to and test with the service, in readiness for the production deployment of the service in Q1 2024.

Whilst subscribing to the service is not mandatory, ASX strongly encourages all trading participants to do so. Further details on the service can be found in the ‘Order and Trade Download Service Guide’ available here: https://www.asxonline.com/content/dam/asxonline/public/documents/asx-trade-refresh-manuals/order-and-trade-download-service-guide.pdf

What will I see following the change?

ODS and TDS files will only be available for download, to Participants who have subscribed to the service. Once deployed, there will be no functional or visible changes to users not subscribed to the service.

The ODS/TDS service is only intended for use in major ASX Trade incident scenarios where order book changes may result in the broadcast of erroneous market data. In any such scenario, the processes broadcasting potentially erroneous market data would be shut down.  ASX will conduct a simulated market incident scenario that incorporates ODS, TDS, the cessation of market data broadcasts and the CANCEL_ONLY session state in the CDE+ environment each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The simulation will begin at 2pm and will follow the below sequence of events:

14:00

Disable market data (cessation of BO5 broadcasts)

14:10

All Markets transition to ENQUIRE session state

14:15

Pre FOT assessment TDS files generated for SFTP(trades after 12:00 flagged as under review)

14:20

 ODS files generated for SFTP

14:30

Post FOT assessment TDS files generated for SFTP  (trades after 12:17:01 flagged as ‘Trades will not stand’)

15:00

All Markets transition to CANCEL_ONLY session state

21:20

All Markets run through end of day session state sequence

Note: The automated testing workflow made available in CDE+ environment reflects the general sequence of events customers would see in Production if a major incident occurred that warranted the use of TDS and ODS. The process as executed within the CDE+ environment however is on a compressed timeline, and is not indicative as to how long the incident investigation and triaging process may take in Production.

What do I need to do by when?

Trading Participants should familiarise themselves with the ‘Order and Trade Download Service Guide’ available here: https://www.asxonline.com/content/dam/asxonline/public/documents/asx-trade-refresh-manuals/order-and-trade-download-service-guide.pdf

Sample ODS and TDS csv files are available at https://www.asxonline.com/public/documents/asx-trade-technical-library.html under the ‘Service Release 14’ heading.

Further details on the ODS/TDS subscription process will be provided by the ASX shortly.
