ASX plans to extend the New Zealand Quarterly Baseload Electricity Futures (contract codes EA, EE, EB and EF) curve from 3 to 5 years, in accordance with changes to the New Zealand Electricity Authority (NZEA) Market Making requirements.
The additional quarters will be available for trading from 12th October 2026, subject to internal and external readiness and regulatory approval.
The NZEA Market Making requirements will come into effect from 1st March 2027. ASX plans to list the additional quarters well ahead of this to give Market Makers the opportunity to voluntarily price the new quarters ahead of the official change in requirements.
The additional quarters will be available for Market Participants to test in CDE + from 24th August 2026.
A market notice will be sent closer to go live to confirm the above change and effective date.
