BBSW has been declared as one of five significant financial benchmarks in Australia. ASX, as the Administrator of BBSW, is required to hold a benchmark administrator licence and comply with all obligations imposed on it by the Corporations Act 2001, ASIC Financial Benchmark (Administration) Rules, ASIC Financial Benchmark (Compelled) Rules 2018 and any directions issued by ASIC under the Act or Rules.

In order to meet these obligations, updates are being made to BBSW documentation.

Market participants are advised that the following non-material changes have been made to BBSW documents:

·       BBSW Conventions and Methodology- section 7.1 (Identification and reporting of suspicious transactions), and Appendix C section 2.3.3 (update to contact details).

·       BBSW Trade and Trade Reporting Guidelines- section 2.5 (Identification and reporting of suspicious transactions) and section 8.4 (Fall back provisions).

The updated documents are available on the benchmarks page and will be effective from the 1st July 2019. The changes are outlined in the version control of each document.

What do I need to do by when?

Policies and procedures referencing BBSW documentation should be reviewed and updated to reflect any changes ahead of 1st July 2019. A copy of marked up documentation can be provided to participants upon request.
